Special Education Coaching

As a special education coach, I will empower you with the knowledge to be your child's best advocate. Every child, of any ability level, is entitled to a Free and Appropriate Public Education in their Least Restrictive Environment. Together, we can navigate the best path to build a solid Individual Education Plan for your child that includes proper related services, thoughtful accommodations, and appropriate placement. You, as a parent or guardian, are the most valuable part of your child's education team!

I'll review your current IEP and then sit down with you for an hour to discuss your personal goals for your child and whether the IEP contains the services and accommodations to meet those goals.

We'll make a list of focus points for you to take away or we can work on together.

Crash Course Coffee Date

Do you need help understanding the transition from an ISFP to an IEP? Prepping for your next meeting? Understanding your rights as a parent? Learning about the state and federal regulations?

Who Am I?

Erin Poirier with family

I am a mother of two children, ages 7 and 9, both on substantial Individual Education Plans since their transition out of Early Intervention. Once my younger daughter was eligible for special education, I left my career and immersed myself in learning everything I could about the complex world of special education.

I have jumped head-first into the special needs world:

  • Completed the Federation for Children with Special Needs Advocate training through Parent Consultant Training Institute.
  • Volunteer at Parent Consultant Training Institute call center.
  • Serve on the Boston Children's Hospital Family Advisory Council.
  • Board member of the Franklin Special Education Parents Advisory Council.
  • Attended the Massachusetts Families Organizing for Change Leadership series.

I do not want any parent to feel as alone as I did when my oldest daughter started Early Intervention.
